“Three of four years ago, blood work revealed my CRP level was at a 12. It is supposed to be in the range of 1-3. High internal inflammation can cause all sorts of internal damage, including heart attacks. I’ve always had really tight muscles and a lot of pain. I began doing more research on inflammation, taking fish oil and curcumin and drinking a lot of water. Then, one of my healthcare practitioners put me on a systemic enzyme supplement. “My husband, Ellis, has had a persistent cough for what seems like forever. “About a year ago, I started taking Peptizyme-SP in order to control pain and neurogenic claudication due to lumbar spinal stenosis. The pain and dysfunction in my legs had become so disabling that I was concerned that in the near future I might not be able to continue in my duties as a chiropractic physician. I was considering surgery or steroid injections as a last resort. "I was diagnosed in the late 1990s with interstitial cystitis, a condition where the lining of your bladder is chronically inflamed. I went to an acupuncturist as a last ditch effort to control the pain. The acupuncturist suggested systemic enzymes along with acupuncture because enzymes relieve inflammation in your body. He suggested serrapeptase (in combination with other systemic enzymes) because it has been used in Germany and Asia on cystitis. “In 1986, I was laying some electrical wiring between beams in a barn when I slipped off and fell to the ground, hitting some machinery down below. I shattered both my kneecaps. The doctors put all of the pieces of my kneecap back together, tied an actual wire around the outer edge of the bone to hold the pieces in place, and then stitched me back up. My injury was extremely painful. I was taking pain pills and went to acupuncturists, among other things, to help combat it. Eventually, in 1992, I had the wire removed. The pieces of kneecap bone had grown back together, but I still had pain. I couldn't sit for long and tasks like driving became impossible to do for more than an hour. If I hiked, even a little, I experienced a lot of pain that shot through my knee with each step. I have tried so many different treatments and 20 years later, I still have pain. “In 2009, I wound up in the hospital with a pulmonary embolism. Blood clots had broken loose from my knees and traveled to my lungs. “In 2008, I was coughing a lot and getting very tired. I had shortness of breath. I couldn’t even do much around the house. Regardless of what I was doing, I would have to sit down or rest.
